How to register with Bluehost

Here I'm going to show you how simple it is to take the first step towards creating your own website or blog with Bluehost.

The very first thing you need to do is sign up with Bluehost. But how do you actually do it? What is the process?
You can now use multiple web hosts. One of the best options for beginners is Bluehost (read my review).

They are certainly one of the cheapest options around, they are suitable for beginners and give you a free domain name, and is a good full web host for your personal or small business site.
Bluehost has a lot of good features that make it a great choice for web hosting:

  • The ability to cancel their 30 day money back guarantee at any time gives you a full refund.
  • Easy to use control panel (a feature particularly interesting for people new to web hosting and website creation).
  • Free domain name, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited domains and email accounts (except on their basic plan), plus much more.
Click on a WordPress installation button
So with that out of the way, let's cover How do I sign up for Bluehost ?.

Go to Bluhost and clikc on the "start now" button. It will be prominently displayed on the home page.

STEP 1. CHOOSE A WEB HOSTING PLAN

Once you have clicked on the start now button, you will receive four shared hosting plans to choose from. Basic, plus, premium and business pro.

Here are some of the features you will get with each (all plans come with a free domain name):

Basic plan

Host a website with 50GB of space
Bandwidth not measured
5 email accounts with 100MB per account
[This is the plan I recommend you start with]

The plus plan

Host unlimited websites with unlimited space
Unlimited email accounts with unlimited storage space
Spam protection included
Foreground
Host unlimited websites with unlimited space
Unlimited email accounts and storage space
Includes website backups, domain privacy, etc.

Professional plan

Host unlimited websites with unlimited space
Unlimited email accounts and storage space

Includes spam protection, SSL certificate, dedicated IP address, domain privacy, etc.

I recommend that you start with the basic plan, as it is the cheapest and easiest to start with.

You can always update later if you want more power and functionality.

If you only want to manage one corporate website or personal blog, then you really shouldn't need to buy a more expensive package.

The plus, prime and pro packages are only really useful if you intend to run multiple websites at once, or if you intend to launch an ecommerce site using WooCommerce.

STEP 2. CHOOSE YOUR DOMAIN NAME

Once you have chosen a plan, you will be asked to enter your domain name.

You will have two options, you can register a “New domain” (included for free for the first year)

Or if you already have a domain that you want to use, you choose "I have a domain."

Enter the domain name, then choose if your website can be .com, .org, .net, etc.

STEP 3. ENTER YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Once your domain name has been processed, you will be asked to enter your personal information for Create your account.

Relational intelligence is standard stuff you see on the checkout of each website, first and last name, email, password, country, phone number, etc.

You will also be asked to choose a payment option; Bluehost allows you to pay via credit card or PayPal.

STEP 4. SELECT ADDITIONAL MODULES (OPTIONAL)

You can therefore choose the duration of your Bluehost package (months 12, 24 or 36) and choose extensions.

Not all addons are needed, so I'll briefly explain each of them so you can know if you need them or not.

Confidentiality area
For an additional 0.99 per month, Bluehost can hide your personal contact information (name, address and email) so that it cannot be accessed via public whois information. It is a good idea if you want your personal information to remain anonymous.

I recommend that you get this addon.

Backup Pro Site
Another 2.99 monthly supplement, Site Pro Pro, will regularly create backups of your website.

So if your website crashes or you make a major mistake, you can click a button and restore your website using the latest backup. You can also download compressed files containing all of the resources for your website.

I recommend that you get this addon.

Jumpstart search engine
For a monthly amount of 2.99, Bluehost will help you integrate your website into the three major search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) as quickly as possible.

I do not recommend that you get this add-on.

STEP 5. IT'S ALL - YOU SIGN UP WITH BLUEHOST!

Once you've chosen your add-ons, you're done. Hit the "submit button and you're done.

You will receive a welcome email very soon confirming your hosting account with Bluehost and it has all the login information you need to get started.
